PM: How are you, really?

MRKUUL: I’m blessed and motivated to be honest and I want to say Alhumdulilah to be able to see another day and also being able to grow mentally and spirituality.

PM: Last year (2020) was like no other, and though some of us were prepared or had wind of the pandemic way in advance, most were not. What impact did Covid and the pandemic have on you? Personally? Creatively? Mentally?

MRKUUL: The pandemic for me personally wasn’t all that bad, even though I lost my job. I was able to do a lot of reflection, and was able to focus and attack my music career differently. I also was able to bond with my mother more, all my life I can remember my mom working hard for her children and grandchildren. She owns a successful daycare and been in the business for 18 + years. She always had to work long days so when the pandemic happen she had to close both daycares temporarily. So during that time we was able to bond more and spend a lot of time together, so that was a blessing.

PM: How have you illustrated your resilience through it all?

MRKUUL: At times during the pandemic I got lonely and was bored out my mind but playing the game, watching anime, and also being with my family got me through.

PM: 2021 is here, how are you approaching things this year...

MRKUUL: I’m going hard and not letting go, I’m coming for everything.

PM: Artists who don’t use their gov’t name usually have some sort of story behind their stage name— your’s is very “affirming”...Who is “Mrkhuul”?

MRKUUL: So Mrkhuul was giving to me because I always had a cool laid back personality, and people always used to say “ayo you too cool” because of the way I move. I also remember one day my cousin said Mr.cool and when he said that I was like I like that. I first made my name on Xbox Mrcool08 before I made it to my artist name. It was a year or two before I change the spelling, I had to change the spelling on social media because somebody already it “Mr.Cool”. It took me a little to find the way I wanted to spell it but now you see “Mrkhuul”.

PM: What's the best thing you've learned while being a music artist?

MRKUUL: To treasure all the people that help you on your journey, from big to small help, don’t try to just use people to accomplish your goals because burning bridges is the worst thing to do.

PM: How has your perspective on the world changed over time?

MRKUUL: I try to understand people and situations more before I judge them. I used to jump to conclusions too fast, don’t get me wrong I’m still growing in that aspect but yea just try to understand things more.

PM: Who and what inspires you? It can be anything from fellow artists to your favorite films or places you’ve traveled even

MRKUUL: For 2021 one of the main things I’m doing is finishing my project “Everything Khuul” and releasing it, collaborating with more artist, God willing things start opening back up so I can do some performances. Visuals, definitely going be putting out different types of visuals.

PM: The new single “Everything”...can you talk more about this and how it came about? Also, is this something from a new project?

MRKUUL:The single Everything is a song off of my new project I’m finishing called “Everything’s Khuul”. Everything is basically letting people know I’m coming for everything, that’s my goals, my financial freedom, my dreams, my inner peace, my family, the comfortable life I want. I’m coming for it all and only Allah can stop me.

PM: What’s on the horizon for 2021? What else can we expect from you?

MRKUUL: For 2021 one of the main things I’m doing is finishing my project “Everything Khuul” and releasing it, collaborating with more artist, God willing things start opening back up so I can do some performances. Visuals, definitely going be putting out different types of visuals.
